Who We Are and Where We Are Going
TSC originally opened in 1966 as ‘Tallahassee Junior College’. The name was later changed in 1970 to reflect its community orientation and involvement better.
Now in its 57th year, TSC is one of the top-ranked two-year institutions in the nation, having earned prestigious recognitions from organizations like the Aspen Institute, the American Association of Community Colleges, and Achieving the Dream. The College is most often recognized for being the top transfer institution to Florida State University and Florida A&M University, for its agility in offering in-demand workforce training, and for its outstanding reputation in the community.
TSC enrolls over 15,000 credit and non-credit students each year and offers over 70 credit degree and certificate programs and 48 non-credit programs. Most recently, the College announced it would add three new baccalaureate degrees in Business Administration, Elementary Education, and Exceptional Student Education. These are in addition to the existing Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree added in 2014. With these new upper-level degrees, the College has on decided the need to rebrand the institution to better reflect our evolving institutional status and broadening impact in the state.
