TSC Orientation

Welcome New Students

As a new student at Tallahassee State College, we know you have questions and will need some guidance as you begin your TSC experience. New Student Orientation helps students transition to our campus, learn about the student experience, academic requirements, and support tools to be successful.

In-Person Orientation

Join us on campus for a fully programmed orientation experience on June 12, June 26, July 17, or July 24.

New Student Orientation focuses on helping you understand how Tallahassee State College works and what resources are available to support you along the way.

Orientation Will Help You:

  • Learn what to expect academically and what it means to be a TSC student
  • Get familiar with important systems, resources, and support services
  • Connect with staff, orientation leaders, and other new students

Important to know: Orientation does not include class registration. Registration for new students opens in April, and you’ll receive instructions via your TSC email on how to connect with Advising and register for classes.

RSVP for In-Person Orientation

Space is limited for these sessions, and seats will fill quickly.

Online Orientation

Below are videos and resources for students who cannot attend orientation in person. You can complete these videos at your own pace; there are no time requirements, and you do not need to preregister to start.

Parent and Family Sessions

Parents and family members are encouraged to attend concurrent sessions designed specifically for them. These sessions provide helpful information about:

  • Campus safety and communication
  • Academic expectations
  • Financial aid and billing

To support student privacy, staff will also share general information about the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and what families can and cannot access once a student begins college.

As the parent/legal guardian of an incoming TSC student, here's what you need to know:

Student Confidentiality

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their educational records. Understand your students' privacy rights.

Academic Deadlines

Along with your student, you can make note of important dates and deadlines to make sure they are met each semester. It is especially important to stay ahead of the fee payment deadlines to avoid your student from being dropped from classes.

Payment Options

In addition to paying online, TSC accepts payments that are either dropped off physically or mailed to the Cashier's Office. Learn about our convenient payment options.

Financial Aid

If your student is applying for financial aid, they need to check their status. The FAFSA is just the beginning of the process, and all financial aid students need to ensure their financial aid file is completed at least two weeks prior to the fee payment date. If students are missing documents in their Admissions file (residency, transcripts, etc.), financial aid cannot be processed.

If your student registers after the Tuition Payment date, tuition and fees are due on the day of registration, which means their financial aid file must be completed and awarded, or they will need to be prepared to pay out of pocket.
