Tallahassee Collegiate Academy Earns an “A” School Grade for Second Consecutive Year

July 8, 2025

Tallahassee Collegiate Academy (TCA) has once again earned an “A” rating from the Florida Department of Education for the 2024–25 school year. This marks the second consecutive year of achieving the state’s highest academic honor since its inaugural 2023 grade—a remarkable feat for a school in only its second year of operation.

“It is extraordinary for a second-year school to maintain an ‘A’ rating in the face of increasing state standards,” stated Karen B. Moore, Founder and Chair of TCA. “This speaks volumes about our innovative model, the strong partnership with Tallahassee State College, our outstanding faculty and staff, and the unwavering support of our trustees and the Florida Department of Education.”

TCA delivers an accelerated dual‑enrollment curriculum that empowers students to graduate with both a high school diploma and an Associate of Science degree in a STEM field. Students immerse themselves in challenges that prepare them for high-demand careers and higher education through college-level coursework, hands-on projects, and real-world problem-solving.

The “A” school designation is based on a comprehensive assessment of various factors, including student performance on standardized tests and college readiness.

“TCA continues to exemplify educational excellence,” said Dr. Jim Murdaugh, president of Tallahassee State College. “As the charter’s sponsor, we are proud to see this sustained academic performance opening doors for students and setting a new standard for what’s possible in public education.”
