Fall enrollment tops 13,000 as credit hours, full-time enrollment, and transfer pathways continue to grow
Tallahassee State College has reached its 12th consecutive semester of enrollment growth, continuing a multi-year trend of increasing student demand and expanding educational opportunities.
TSC enrolled 13,066 students for Fall 2026, an increase of 2.4% over Fall 2025. Students are also taking more courses, with total credit hours increasing 3.8% to 140,779.
“Twelve consecutive semesters of enrollment growth is a tremendous testament to the confidence students and families continue to place in Tallahassee State College,” said Dr. Jim Murdaugh, president of TSC. “However, the number that matters most is not simply how many students walk through our doors. It is how many students find the opportunity, support, and pathway they need to achieve their goals. This continued growth tells us that more students are choosing TSC as the place to begin that journey.”
The Fall 2026 numbers point to particularly strong growth among students pursuing a full-time college experience. Full-time enrollment increased 7.1% to 7,799 students, while the number of first-time-in-college students climbed 8.5% to 3,500. New student enrollment overall increased 5.4%.
TSC’s transfer pathways also continued to expand. Enrollment among students participating in ASPIRE, TSC’s transfer pathway to Florida State University, increased 13.6% to 6,047 students. Those students now represent 46% of TSC’s Fall 2026 headcount and generate 53% of the College’s credit hours. The number of students on a transfer pathway to Florida A&M University increased 6.8% to 1,095.
The College also saw significant growth in its bachelor’s degree programs. Bachelor’s enrollment increased 23.3% to 514 students, while bachelor’s credit hours grew 26%. TSC launched two additional bachelor’s programs this fall: the Bachelor of Applied Science in Auditing and Compliance Management and the Bachelor of Applied Science in Management Analytics.
Another significant trend is the increasing number of credits students are completing. Credit-hour growth outpaced headcount growth, with the average course load increasing from 10.63 to 10.77 credit hours per student. Express-session enrollment also continued to gain momentum, with combined credit hours in the August, September, and October Express terms increasing 31.3% over Fall 2025.
