Tallahassee Collegiate Academy Named a Florida School of Excellence

October 27, 2026

Florida School of ExcellenceTallahassee Collegiate Academy (TCA) has earned a School of Excellence designation from the Florida State Board of Education, recognizing the school's outstanding academic performance during the 2025–26 academic year. The designation, approved by the State Board of Education on October 14, recognizes Florida's highest-performing public schools.

To qualify as a School of Excellence, a school must rank in the 80th percentile or higher among schools with the same grade configurations, based on the percentage of possible points earned in the state's school grade calculation for at least two of the previous three school years. TCA is among 768 Florida schools to receive the designation for the 2025–26 academic year.

The School of Excellence designation adds to TCA's growing record of academic achievement. Since opening in 2023, the academy has earned an A grade from the Florida Department of Education in both its inaugural year and the 2024–25 school year, demonstrating a consistent commitment to academic excellence.

"When we envisioned Tallahassee Collegiate Academy, our goal was to create a school where students could challenge themselves, discover their potential, and graduate with opportunities that might otherwise have seemed out of reach," said Karen B. Moore, Founder and Chair of the Tallahassee Collegiate Academy Board of Directors. "To see TCA earn this distinction just a few years after opening is incredibly rewarding. It speaks to the dedication of our students, and the teachers and staff who bring our vision to life every day."

Established by the Florida Legislature in 2017, the Schools of Excellence program recognizes sustained high academic performance. Schools that qualify retain the designation for up to three years, with an opportunity for renewal.
