Dean's Message
Dear Students and Faculty,
As the Dean of the Library and Learning Commons, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the new academic year! We are so excited to see both familiar faces and new ones. The Library and Learning Commons is dedicated to providing robust, out-of-classroom support for your academic journey. Our mission is to be your partner in learning, offering resources and services designed to help you succeed.
We are particularly thrilled to announce a highly anticipated new addition to our space: the Innovation Hub, which will be located on the first floor. This project is an excellent example of the powerful collaboration between our faculty and staff, and it represents our shared commitment to creating a dynamic, forward-thinking learning environment. The Innovation Hub will provide cutting-edge resources and support for students across all disciplines, including our dual-enrolled students, helping them to develop essential skills and explore new technologies.
We encourage you to visit us, explore our offerings, and meet our dedicated team. We are here to support you every step of the way.
Warmly,
Dr. Anthony Jones
Dean of Library Services and Learning Commons

History
The William D. Law, Jr. Learning Commons first opened its doors in 2008. Before that, the building had been used as the Legislative Research Center and Museum that housed historic items that were eventually moved to the old Capital building in downtown Tallahassee.
In 2006, Dr. William D. Law, Jr., fifth president of TSC from 2002-2010, announced that the building would be converted to the new “Learning Commons.”
Faculty and staff from across TSC’s campus collaborated tirelessly as they planned the physical layout of the building, and developed best practices that allowed the newly formed division to provide tutoring for all TSC students. Before the opening of the Learning Commons, learning assistance was spread out across campus.
Today, the Learning Commons has and is constantly evolving in order to be able to serve TSC’s growing diverse student population. Here, students can find quiet study spaces and friendly faces who are here to support their academic journey, and much more.
