The Tallahassee State College Spring 2026 Commencement ceremony will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 6 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center.
Guests
You may invite as many family and friends as you would like. Tickets are not required. The Civic Center charges $10 per vehicle to park. The Civic Center has a clear bag policy, meaning no purses or tote bags unless they are clear. Airhorns or cowbells are not allowed.
Commencement Guidelines
Participation in Commencement is voluntary and open to all graduating students. By electing to participate, students agree to adhere to all established rules and policies associated with the event.
Dress Code
Graduates must purchase a cap and gown at the TSC Bookstore and wear it to the commencement ceremony.
Regalia:
All required regalia must be purchased through the Tallahassee State College Bookstore. Graduates participating in Commencement are required to wear official TSC-approved regalia, including:
- College-approved cap (mortarboard) with tassel
- College-approved gown
- Official stoles, cords, or medallions approved and distributed by the College
Mortarboards:
Decorative mortarboards are not permitted. This includes, but is not limited to, messages, images, symbols, lettering, flowers, fabric, lights, or other decorations.
Stoles, Cords, and Accessories:
Only stoles, cords, and accessories approved and issued by the College may be worn during the Commencement ceremony.
Graduates wearing non-approved items may be asked to remove them. Students who do not comply may not be permitted to participate in the ceremony.
Additional Regalia
Honor Graduates may purchase an honor cord from the Bookstore to recognize their academic achievements at graduation. You must have a 3.00 or higher overall GPA as of the previous semester. If you have trouble ordering your cord, please contact:

Veterans receive special regalia to honor their service at graduation. Veterans will be contacted directly about graduation and for their honor cord and challenge coin. If you cannot attend the special Cord and Coins Celebration, you may pick yours up from the Veterans Success Center in the CT Building, room 201, on or after the annual event.
Students who have been active members of the following groups may be eligible to wear a cord, stole, or medallion with their gown. Contact the associated staff member to reserve yours or for more information.

What to Expect
Graduates must arrive at the Civic Center at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026.
- Go down the escalators to the bottom floor, where you will print your name card and line up alphabetically. Volunteers will be there to help.
- Leave your personal items with your family.
- You may bring your phone with you, but it must be on silent, and no earbuds or headphones of any kind are allowed.
Conduct During the Ceremony
Commencement is a respectful, formal occasion to honor significant educational achievements. Graduates are expected to behave in a respectful and professional manner throughout the event.
Behaviors that disrupt the ceremony are not permitted. Alcohol or other substances may not be consumed before or during Commencement.
Access to the commencement floor is limited to authorized personnel, including commencement marshals, individuals with press credentials, and ceremony participants.
Graduates are expected to cross the stage in a safe and professional manner. Disruptive actions, such as dancing, jumping, chanting, or similar behavior, is now allowed.
For safety reasons, only graduates and authorized personnel are permitted on stage. Individuals accompanying graduates are limited to those with approved mobility accommodations through Student Accessibility Services.
Graduates are expected to remain seated until the conclusion of the ceremony.
You are expected to stay until the end of the ceremony through the recessional.
Order Regalia
Graduates are required to wear full academic regalia (i.e. cap, gown, and tassel). Graduation regalia is available for purchase at the TSC Bookstore.
