Types of Aid
In this section:Grants are need-based awards that do not have to be repaid. The most common grant programs are funded through the U.S. Department of Education, including the Federal Pell Grant Program. Some grants are funded through private organizations and professional associations.

Federal Pell Grant Updates for 2026-27
Effective July 1, 2026
Federal Pell Grant eligibility is changing beginning with the 2026-2027 award year. These changes are the result of new federal legislation and may affect your eligibility for Pell Grant funding.

What's Changing?
Student Aid Index (SAI) Limit
Beginning July 1, 2026, students with a Student Aid Index (SAI) of 14,790 or higher will not be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant.
Cost of Attendance Rule
Students whose scholarships, grants, tuition assistance, or other resources fully cover their Cost of Attendance (COA) may not be eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant.
Your Cost of Attendance includes:
- Tuition and fees
- Books and supplies
- Housing and food
- Transportation
- Personal expenses
What Has Not Changed?
- You must still complete the FAFSA each year.
- Pell Grants do not have to be repaid unless you become ineligible after receiving funds.
- Pell Grant awards are still based on financial need and enrollment status.
- Lifetime Pell Grant limits still apply.
What Should Students Do?
- Complete the 2026-2027 FAFSA as early as possible.
- Monitor your Workday account for required documents and action items.
- Review your financial aid offer carefully once awards become available.

Federal Pell Grant
Federal Pell Grants are available to students who qualify based on federal rules.
Students may qualify if they are enrolled full-time, three-quarter time, half-time, or less, and their Student Aid Index (SAI) meets federal requirements.
Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants (FSEOG)
FSEOGs are awarded to students from funds made available by the Federal government for students with exceptional needs.
This grant is usually awarded to students who receive the Federal Pell Grant. Grants will vary in amount, with the smallest FSEOG valued at $200.
Students must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) to receive this award.
Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG)
What is the Florida Student Assistance Grant Program (FSAG)?
FSAG is a need-based grant for Florida residents with high financial need who are enrolled full-time by the end of the regular drop/add period.
Funds are limited. Student Financial Services will notify eligible students.
The part-time FSAG funds students enrolled at least half-time. Funds are given based on the number of hours the student attends (half-time or three-quarter-time).
Students must fill out the FAFSA and meet state rules to qualify for FSAG.
The Florida Student Assistance Grant – Certificate Students (FSAG-CE) is a need-based grant for Florida residents in certificate programs.
Aside from the eligible amount and required completed hours, all other rules for receiving full-time FSAG still apply. Funds are limited. Student Financial Services will notify eligible students.
