The Innovation Hub is a place for every student to build real skills with real technology — 3D printing, laser fabrication, and robotics. Attend a hands-on workshop, earn a stackable badge, or work on a project of your own.
Every TSC student is welcome at the Innovation Hub, regardless of their major and enrollment type, including dual-enrolled students. Our workshops are beginner-friendly and led by Hub staff, so you can jump in even if you’ve never touched a 3D printer or a robot before.
Ways to Engage
- Attend a workshop: Join a hands-on session in any of the three tracks — 3D Printing, Laser Fabrication, or Robotics.
- Earn a badge: Complete a workshop series to earn Explorer, Specialist, and Innovator badges that you can add to a resume or college application.
- Drop in: Stop by during open hours to use equipment and work on personal or class projects with staff nearby.
- Become a Hub Navigator: Take on a peer-leadership role, helping other students learn the tools and lead robotics and maker activities
TRAINING TRACKS
Three hands-on, badge-based training tracks at the Tallahassee State College Innovation Hub. Each track builds practical, workforce-aligned skills through progressive Explorer, Specialist, and Innovator micro credentials.
3D Printing
Turn your ideas into physical objects through a hands-on, badge-based pathway that takes you from your first print to engineering your own functional designs. Using industry-standard tools like Tinkercad, Fusion 360, and PrusaSlicer, you'll master the full digital-fabrication workflow — designing, slicing, and printing real projects that solve real problems. Start as an Explorer learning how 3D printing works, advance to Specialist for precision CAD modeling and prototyping, and reach Innovator, where you apply engineering design principles to create and test your own solutions.
Laser Fabrication
Bring your designs to life by cutting, scoring, and engraving real materials with precision laser technology. In this hands-on Explorer series, you'll learn how professional laser systems work, follow the complete workflow from digital design to finished piece using xTool Creative Space, and work with materials like wood, acrylic, and leather — all while mastering the safety essentials of laser operation. Design your own project, evaluate your results against real quality standards, and earn the Laser Fabrication Explorer Badge, building technical skills that carry into manufacturing, design, and product development.
Robotics
Program and deploy real robots on the Innovation Hub’s signature track, built around the Vex robotics platform and robotic quadrupeds. Through a badge-based micro credential pathway — Explorer, Specialist, and Innovator — you’ll progress from app-based control and block coding to Python and SDK programming, LiDAR 3D mapping, autonomous waypoint navigation, and voice-interactive AI demonstrations. Working hands-on with cutting-edge humanoid and four-legged robots, you'll build the automation and programming skills powering one of Florida’s most distinctive robotics education programs — and careers across manufacturing, engineering, and AI.
